The USFS has installed a new trail sign on the Leceister Hollow Trail on the east side of the bridge over the LH Brook, which clears up confusion for those traveling north. The old trail used to go to the right, but was washed out in the 2008 flooding.
A new surface for the Leicester Hollow Trail Bridge over the Neshobe River has been completed. This is for pedestrian use only. The only parking available for now is at the pull-off on the north side of VT 73 just east of Leicester Hollow Road.
The USFS has installed 6 new wood duck boxes – at the Frost Trail, Chatfield Parking lot, behind Silver Towers Camp, behind Widow’s Clearing parking lot on Ripton/Goshen Rd, and north end of Dutton swamp. Checked and replaced nesting material at existing box on Frost Trail, found 4 eggs (abandoned), there was a bee’s nest inside box. Bee’s nest was cleaned out. Reset a box on FR 24b, on Voter’s Bk and checked another existing box there. There were now 9 total, either newly installed or checked.
